Senator HILL (Minister for the Environment)(4.35 p.m.) —Actually, I have some sympathy with the argument that that is the whole point of the broader definition of sustainability. I would argue that, unless you treat the environment sensitively, ultimately you will destroy its economic potential. Be that as it may, nevertheless that is not an argument for more narrowly defining the definition of sustainability. It is better to leave it in its broader sense and recognise that sustainability, in the broader sense, encompasses the three objectives.
