—I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:
(a) that the Senate notes that the Minister for the Environment (Senator Hill), contrary to the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area Management Plan, has agreed to keep open the Mt McCall Road, which cuts through the world heritage area to the Franklin River; and
(b) there be laid on the table by the Minister for the Environment (Senator Hill), no later than 4 pm on 26 May 1997, the following documents:
(i) correspondence and other representations from Peregrine Adventures or other commercial operators or community groups to the Minister or his department between 1 January 1997 and 12 May 1997,
(ii) correspondence and other material provided by the Tasmanian Government to the Minister or his department between 1 January 1997 and 12 May 1997,
(iii) the department's assessment of the cost-benefit analysis prepared by the Tasmanian Government,
(iv) the department's advice on the environmental consequences of closing or retaining the Mt McCall Road,
(v) any legal advice relating to the Mt McCall Road provided between 1 January 1997 and 12 May 1997, and
(vi) any other briefing material prepared by the department for the meeting of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area Ministerial Council meeting on 14 March 1997 or for the 1997 meeting of the World Heritage Area Consultative Council.
