Senator ALSTON (Minister for Communications and the Arts)(6.36 p.m.) —Can I indicate that I accept the logic of Senator Harradine's argument and I think it ought to be understood that, if there is a good reason for someone not being here for a vote on a division and they wish to have the matter recommitted, it should not be recommitted at their convenience; it ought to be at the convenience of the committee. If the committee's wish is that it be done at the end of the current debate, then that is when it ought to be done.


The CHAIRMAN —It seems to me to be the will of the committee that we have any recommittal at the end of the debate, and that is when it will occur.
