Senator NEWMAN (Minister for Social Security and Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the Status of Women)(12.54 p.m.) —If Senator Brown will bear with me, I will respond to him in a minute. I have further advice on the particular matter Senator Harradine was raising. Section 597(3) of the act provides in relation to moving to an area of lower employment prospects:

For the purposes of subsection (1) a person has a sufficient reason for moving to a new place of residence if and only if the person:

(a) moves to live with a family member who has already established his or her residence in that place of residence; or

(b) moves to live near a family member who has already established residence in the same area . . .
