Senator HARRADINE(10.10 p.m.) —I thank the committee. Could I thank also the minister for indicating that it could be drawn to the attention of the Treasurer. It would probably concentrate everybody's minds and it would certainly be drawn to the Treasurer's attention were the amendments adopted by the Senate. Because of amendments to the legislation, the legislation will need to go back to the House of Representatives. No doubt the Treasurer would take some passing interest in what the Senate has done in respect of this measure—not only this one but other measures. If there were a problem, as envisaged by you, or if there were other problems, no doubt our attention would be drawn to them by the House of Representatives in pretty quick order tomorrow.

The TEMPORARY CHAIRMAN —Senator Harradine, would you like the issue to be postponed to a later hour tonight or tomorrow?

Senator HARRADINE —No, that is not what I was saying. Clearly, in plain English, I would have thought that it might be desirable for the matter to be voted upon, adopted and, if there were some difficulties along the way, no doubt the Treasurer would draw the attention of the House of Representatives to those difficulties and we would receive the message.

   Question put:

That the amendment (Senator Harradine's ) be agreed to.
