Senator REYNOLDS —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate—

(a)   expresses its abhorrence at the Chinese Government's campaign of forcible sterilisation of Tibetan women and girls, and the associated abortion of any foetus;

(b)   notes that in some areas of Tibet up to 70 per cent of the female population in the 12- to 50-year age group has been forcibly sterilised as a result of this campaign;

(c)   believes that this campaign and its ramifications amount to systematic genocide of the Tibetan race;

(d)   calls on the Australian Government to take appropriate action to persuade the Government of China to cease its campaign; and

(e)   urges all Australians to boycott `made in China' goods this Christmas as a means of expressing their opposition to the gross violation of the human rights of Tibetan people.
