To the Honourable, the President and Members of the Senate in Parliament assembled.

The petition of the undersigned draws to the attention of the Senate the devastation wrought on East Timorese society since the Indonesian Invasion of 1975.

Your Petitioners ask the Senate to call on the Australian Government to:

1. actively support all further United Nations resolutions and initiatives on East Timor;

2. enter into dialogue with East Timorese political parties and groups dedicated to securing national independence;

3. work for the immediate release of all Timorese political prisoners;

4. halt forthwith all military cooperation and commercial military activity with Indonesia.

And your Petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray.
