Senator STOTT DESPOJA —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate—

(a)   notes the findings of the 1996 Review of Support Funding for Indigenous Students Report, which demonstrate that:

   (i)   indigenous students are frustrated by a lack of control over their education, and

   (ii)   the level of support funding is insufficient to address the continuing difficulties that indigenous students experience in their quest to improve their educational status; and

(b)   condemns the Government's cuts to university operating grants, which will adversely affect educational support services and diminish the opportunities for indigenous students to be adequately supported throughout their university careers.
