Senator BOLKUS —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the following questions relating to the qualification of a senator be referred to the Court of Disputed Returns pursuant to section 376 of the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918:

(a)   whether there is a vacancy in the representation of South Australia in the Senate for the place for which Senator Ferris was returned;

(b)   if so, whether such a vacancy may be filled by the further counting or recounting of ballot papers cast for candidates for election as senators for South Australia at that election; and

(c)   alternatively, whether in the circumstances there is a casual vacancy for one senator for the State of South Australia within the meaning of section 15 of the Constitution.
