Motion (by Senator Chamarette) agreed to:

That the Senate—

   (a)   notes with deep sorrow, the news of the sudden death of long time Aboriginal activist Rob Riley;

   (b)   notes that, in recent times, Mr Riley was closely involved in the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody, the campaign against Western Australia's juvenile justice laws and the Mabo debate;

      (c)   will always remember Mr Riley for his tireless work to enhance the position of

indigenous people across Australia, and particularly in his home State of Western Australia; and

   (d)   expresses its heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
