Senator MARGETTS (12.33 p.m.) —The Greens have expressed concern on a number of occasions about the types of categories of documents that the government says are not available. It is getting to the ridiculous kind of statement that the only things the Senate can ask for are those things which normally would be available under freedom of information. Because of this concern that there is this closing-in on the kind of information that the democratic parliamentary process can have access to in order to make proper decisions, we would certainly support this reasonable request from the opposition to have this document made available and not at some politically convenient time for the government.

  Question put:

That the motion (Senator Alston's) be agreed to.
