Senator ABETZ —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

  That the Senate—

  (a)notes:

    (i)the criticism by conservation groups of the Federal Labor Government's signing of international treaties and undermining of Australia's sovereignty, and

    (ii)Australia's being a signatory to a number of international treaties could potentially undermine the strength of Federal and State conservation and environment laws;

  (b)condemns the Federal Labor Government for its use of unrepresentative and unelected international committees to support claims untenable under Australian domestic law; and

  (c)calls on all political parties professing conservation leanings to ensure that domestic legislation protecting Australian native wildlife and endangered species is not undermined by international bodies.
