Senator CHAPMAN (10.14 p.m.) —The minister indicated that he thought a cap of $30,000 was reasonable. Our amendment agrees with him on that. But the present legislation does not have any such cap with regard to employees under awards. The cap applies only to non-award employees. Our amendment is seeking to introduce equity between those two groups so that the $30,000 payout cap would apply to both groups. Under his legislation, that cap applies only to non-award employees. For award employees it is six months' salary. There is no other cap on it.
