Senator SPINDLER (8.09 p.m.) —I do not know why the minister is saying police resources will be tied up. All we are asking for is a question and answer. All we are suggesting is that the police officer should say to the person whose premises are being searched, `Look what I found. What do you say to that?' The person may reply, `It is not mine', `It belongs to somebody else', `A tenant has had it and has moved out', or whatever. There is an immediate reaction on the record and it can be dealt with later on in the course of the proceedings. Surely that is not a matter of tying up police resources.
