Senator GARETH EVANS (Leader of the Government in the Senate)
—Pursuant to the order of the Senate agreed to on 18 August on the motion of Senator Short, I now table a statement of the government's forward estimates projections of revenue for each of the fiscal years 1994-95 to 1996-97. This will be of particular interest to Senator Kemp, because it starkly outlines the particular point I was making before. Whereas revenue has gone last year to this year from 23.6 to 23.5 per cent, tax revenue—and there is a distinction—goes from 22.2 down to 21.9 per cent, as I just said. It will make very interesting reading, and I think Senator Kemp should be grateful to his friend Jim Short for giving me the opportunity to put this firmly on the public record.
