To the Honourable the President of the Senate and members of the Senate assembled:
The Humble Petition of certain Citizens of Australia respectfully showeth:
That there is urgent need for the United Nations to adopt an Environmental Bill of Rights using the 1987 Report by the World Commission on Environment and Development.
Your petitioners therefore humbly pray that the Parliament pass an `Environmental Bill of Rights', therefore giving Australia a leading role in environmental protection.
And your petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray.
