To the Honourable the President and members of the Senate, in Parliament assembled. The humble petition of the under-signed citizens of Australia respectfully showeth that your petitioners are gravely concerned that in the International Year of Peace, young Australians face an uncertain future due to:

1 a continuing arms race between the super-powers which threatens to extend into outer space

2 military expenditure continuing at ridiculously high levels

3 continuing testing and stockpiling of nuclear weapons

Your petitioners therefore humbly call upon the Federal Parliament to do everything possible to make our future more certain, by:

1 encouraging peaceful dialogue through diplomatic channels as the means of solving issues.

2 persuading all developed countries to spend less on armaments, and more on basic needs like food, health, shelter and education for all people of the world.

3 promoting the extension of agreements to reduce testing and stockpiling of nuclear weapons.

And your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray.
