Senator JESSOP —I ask the Minister representing the Minister for Foreign Affairs: Firstly, what is the Government's general position with respect to organisations in Australia which contribute funds either to terrorist groups or to groups assisting terrorists overseas? Secondly, and more particularly, what is the Government's attitude to the Australian Council of Churches which, according to its 1985 annual report, has sent almost $50,000 of Christmas Bowl money to two Tamil groups in southern India which, it is claimed, support the Tamil terrorists responsible for the recent atrocities in Sri Lanka? Will the Government investigate this allegation and give a report to the Senate?

Senator GARETH EVANS —I will take the question on notice and respond in due course.
