Senator CHANEY —My question is addressed to the Leader of the Government in the Senate in his own capacity and also as the Minister representing both the Prime Minister and the Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Youth Affairs. Will the honourable gentleman confirm the fact that the teenage youth unemployment rate last month was 23.3 per cent? Is it a fact that when the Government's Priority One scheme was launched in August 1985 the rate was 21.7 per cent? Given the evident failure of the Government's alleged first priority other than as a public relations exercise, what does the Government propose to do to reduce worsening youth unemployment?

Senator BUTTON —I am not aware of the details of those figures but they sound familiar and correct according to my recollection. These matters are constantly under attention by the Government. I have nothing to say at present as to the specific initiative in respect of that problem.
