(Question No. 948)

Senator Messner asked the Minister representing the Treasurer, upon notice, on 20 February 1986:

(1) What assurances can the Government give that the introduction of productivity-based schemes will be orderly, in the light of persistent statements by Australian Council of Trade Unions leaders, Mr Crean and Mr Kelty, that industrial action cannot be ruled out in the pursuit of new superannuation schemes.

(2) What is the Government's reaction to Mr Kelty's statement that there is no reason why the unions should stop at 3 per cent superannuation contributions, and to his quoted question, ``why not 20 per cent?''

Senator Walsh —The Treasurer has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question:

(1) and (2) The honourable senator is referred to the answer I have provided to Question No. 944.
