Senator MacGIBBON —I seek leave to make a personal explanation.

Leave granted.

Senator MacGIBBON —I categorically deny every one of those allegations that Senator Giles has tabled in the guise of statutory declarations. On the day in question I exercised my right to walk through a public place. I was attacked physically by between 50 and 80 women. At no time did I use anything other than the minimal amount of force to preserve my own safety because I was physically attacked, I was kicked and punched by 50 to 80 screaming, irrational women. The whole incident was witnessed by officers of the Australian Federal Police who came up to me and who were quite alarmed for my physical safety. The whole matter was recorded on television films and I am appalled that any honourable senator could come in here and unload in the Senate such patently and provably false allegations about another senator.
