To the Honourable the President and members of the Senate in Parliament assembled. The petition of the undersigned citizens of Australia respectfully showeth that:

(i) the fringe benefits tax will place enormous cost increases on employers throughout Australia;

(ii) in so doing, the fringe benefits tax will raise the cost of employing labour particularly in remote locations and it will inevitably worsen the already high level of unemployment in Australia;

(iii) much of the cost of the tax will be carried by employees as employers reduce benefits; and

(iv) the cost of the tax will harm small business particularly as these businesses will be unable to pass on the costs of the tax and as a result many may be forced to close.

Your petitioners therefore call upon the Government to repeal this unfair tax before it damages Australian business and thereby reduces the standard of living of all Australians.

And your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray.
