Senator WALSH (Minister for Finance)(5.23)
—I do not know off the top of my head what the present ABC contribution is. Nobody here does. There are no Department of Finance officials here who might know the answer.
Senator Peter Rae
—Could it be provided in writing?
Senator WALSH
—Yes. I am not sure off the top of my head but I think that the answer must refer to three statutory authorities and the total under review. I do not know which three statutory authorities they are. Senator Peter Rae is correct in saying that the present contributions, and the likely future contributions, from statutory authorities will not be identical because they are to be actuarially assessed within the authority. From memory, there are variations in contribution rates of about 15 to 21 per cent at present.
Senator Peter Rae
—And even more than that.
Senator WALSH
—And possibly even more than that. As I understand it, Senator Rae is interested in knowing what the present rate of contribution is for the ABC and where the revision of that rate, if any, now stands.
Senator Peter Rae
—Yes.
Senator WALSH
—Senator Rae has indicated that that is what he wants. I will try to get that information for him as soon as possible. It may be possible to get it before the adjournment tonight.
