Senator BUTTON (Minister for Industry, Technology and Commerce)(10.49) —I am quite happy to have that put into proper form. The recommendation of the Senate Standing Committee for the Scrutiny of Bills is that it be tabled. I think that that is the expression I would prefer to use. I do not know what the expression 'laid before both Houses of the Parliament' means.

Senator Jack Evans —The reference to regulations in that clause.

Senator Chaney —No, I am not suggesting that it should do any more than statutorily require it to be brought in.

Senator BUTTON —To be tabled?

Senator Chaney —Yes. Perhaps we could report progress.

Senator BUTTON —I do not think we have anything else to deal with in this Bill.

Senator Chaney —I have another amendment. Perhaps we could move on, by leave, deal with my other amendment and then report progress.

The CHAIRMAN —Perhaps it would be convenient to postpone further consideration of clause 8 and we could move on to the remaining clauses.

Senator Chaney —No, my other amendment is to clause 8. We had better put my first amendment to the vote.

The CHAIRMAN —Your other amendment is to clause 9, Senator. Your first amendment is to clause 8 and your second amendment is to clause 9.

Question put:

That the amendment (Senator Chaney's) be agreed to.
