Senator McINTOSH(5.45) —I move:

That the following matters be referred to the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence:

(1) The Australian Army's rapid deployment capability.

(2) The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation.

I take this opportunity to inform the Senate that the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence has resolved to resume its inquiry into Papua New Guinea, first referred to it on 3 May 1984. The Committee has received a number of submissions on Papua New Guinea and will decide its future program on that subject in the light of the issues raised in those submissions. In the meantime, the Committee will move immediately to the consideration of the two matters which have just been referred to it.

Question resolved in the affirmative.
