Senator MacGIBBON —My question is directed to the Minister representing the Ministers for Foreign Affairs and Defence. Has the Attorney-General seen the report that the visiting Soviet Deputy Foreign Minister, Professor Kapitsa--


Senator Gareth Evans —Are you talking about the Attorney-General or me?


Senator MacGIBBON —I am sorry; my apologies. Has the Minister seen the report that the visiting Soviet Deputy Foreign Minister, Professor Kapitsa, has offered that, in return for the closure of the joint United States-Australian defence facilities, the Soviets would sign a pact in which they would promise never to use weapons against this country. Is the Government giving consideration to this proposition in Cabinet, in Caucus or in any of its party units?


Senator GARETH EVANS —The answer is no.
