(Question No. 1207)

Senator Primmer asked the Minister representing the Minister for Foreign Affairs, upon notice, on 4 October 1984:

(i) How many and which posts have been the subject of investigations since the establishment of the new task force set up within the Department of Foreign Affairs to investigate allegations of financial irregularities.

(ii) What were the results of those investigations.

Senator Gareth Evans —The Minister for Foreign Affairs has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question:

(i) I can confirm that a number of overseas posts operated by my Department have been the subject of investigation following allegations of possible financial irregularities. Investigations have been completed and the question of what legal or administrative actions, if any, should follow is currently under active consideration. It would be inappropriate to make any further comment on these matters at this stage.
