Senator MASON —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate-

(a) notes that on September 12, 1977 Steve Biko was killed while under police detention in South Africa; and

(b) condemns the Government of South Africa for maintaining its apartheid policy and for persisting in its claims that it is improving conditions of life for non-whites and allowing them access to power, while simultaneously repressing protests from non-white leaders who maintain that the South African Government continues to be blatantly racist.
