Senator GRIMES (Minister for Social Security)(9.57) —I echo Senator Macklin's words. That is one of the reasons why power is vested in the Parliament. Like Senator Chaney, I am well aware of the three great promises-'I will still love you in the morning'; 'the cheque is in the mail'; and 'I'm from the government, I want to help you'. As Senator Macklin said, with that political oversight we can guarantee that at least in this interim legislation, while we are bringing in substantial legislation, someone will help.
