Senator TOWNLEY —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate-

(a) condemns the Government for the introduction of an assets test that will stifle the incentive for individuals to prepare for their own retirement and will throw more people onto the welfare system;

(b) notes that this test:

(i) discriminates against Australia's 170, 000 farmers and thousands of small business people,

(ii) will cost the Australian taxpayer $30 million in its first year of operation, and

(c) calls on the Government to withdraw this proposed legislation.
