Wannon Electorate: Superclinic

(Question No. 730)


Mr Tehan asked the Minister for Health and Ageing, in writing, on 17 November 2011:

In respect of the GP Super Clinic being constructed in Portland, Victoria, (a) Does the clinic have the support of GPs in Portland; (b) What was the original budget and Government funding allocation; (c) What is the: (i) Current, and (ii) Estimated final expenditure; and (d) What is the expected opening date.


Ms Plibersek: The answer to the honourable member's question asked of the former Minister for Health and Ageing is as follows:

In respect of the GP Super Clinic being constructed in Portland, Victoria:

(a) The Otway Division of General Practice, which represents local general practitioners, has been an active participant in the development of the Portland GP Super Clinic.

(b) The Government's funding allocation for the Portland GP Super Clinic is $4.9 million (GST exclusive). Any information provided by Portland District Health (the organisation) in relation to the funding allocation for the Portland GP Super Clinic relates to the business affairs of that organisation and its provision would be likely to damage the commercial interests of individuals or the organisation.

(c) (i) to (ii) The current expenditure information requested relates to the business affairs of the organisation and its provision would be likely to damage the commercial interests of individuals or the organisation.

(d) The Portland GP Super Clinic is expected to open around early 2012.
