Mr MORRISON (10:08 AM) —Could the minister provide a status update on the High Court action currently being pursued by a number of asylum seekers whose claims have been rejected or gone through a merit appeals process? Could the minister advise the basis of the action that is being brought, how many people have joined that action and what advice the government may have received in terms of the case?

The DEPUTY SPEAKER —I probably should just point out that the normal custom of the House, which is appropriate to be followed here, is for the call to be alternated from government to opposition. Whilst it is open to any member of the government to seek the call, if the minister seeks the call then, in accordance with the convention, the minister receives the call.
