Mr Hawke asked the Minister for Health and Ageing, in writing, on 18 March 2010:

(1)   What total number of General Practitioner Super Clinics will be built from 2007-08 to 2012-13.

(2)   What total sum of funding has been allocated to General Practitioner Super Clinics from 2007-08 to 2012-13.

(3)   What are the locations of all General Practitioner Super Clinics that

(a)   have been constructed,

(b)   are under construction, and

(c)   will be constructed.

(4)   Are there any future plans to build General Practitioner Super Clinic(s) in North West Sydney, specifically (but not limited to) (a) Rouse Hill, and (b) North Kellyville.


Ms Roxon (Minister for Health and Ageing) —The answer to the honourable member’s question is as follows:

(1)   36 GP Super Clinics.

(2)   Total Commonwealth funding available under the GP Super Clinics Program is $275.2 million, over five years, from 2007-08.

(3)  

(a)   The GP Super Clinics at Ballan (VIC) and at Strathpine (QLD) have been constructed and are operational.

(b)   The following GP Super Clinics are currently under construction: Blue Mountains, North Central Coast, Port Stephens, Queanbeyan, Southern Lake Macquarie (NSW), Bendigo, Geelong (VIC), Cairns, Ipswich, Brisbane Southside (QLD), Burnie, Devonport, Hobart Eastern Shores - Clarence (TAS) and Palmerston (NT).

(c)   GP Super Clinics will be constructed in the following locations: Gunnedah, Riverina, Shellharbour (NSW), Berwick, Portland, South Morang, Wallan, Wodonga (VIC), Bundaberg, Gladstone, Ipswich, Mt Isa, Redcliffe, Townsville (QLD), Hobart Eastern Shores - Sorell (TAS), Modbury, Noarlunga (Onkaparinga), Playford North (SA), Cockburn, Midland and Wanneroo (WA).

(4)   The funding available under the GP Super Clinics Program is fully committed towards the establishment of the 36 identified GP Super Clinics. There are no current plans to establish GP Super Clinics in North West Sydney.
