To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives assembled in Parliament.
This petition of concerned Australian citizens draws to the attention of the House the fact that the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) needs adequate funding in order to meet its multicultural broadcasting objectives so as to ensure that SBS continues to provide broadcasting services to all Australians regardless of background, language, culture or faith. We particularly need increased SBS Radio services in the smaller states.
We therefore ask the House to support SBS’s 2009 triennial funding submission so it can further strengthen its broadcasting services for all Australians including Australians from multicultural backgrounds.
