Dr Southcott asked the Minister for Employment Participation, in writing, on 2 December 2008:

In respect of the new Employment Services Contract 2009-12: what mutual obligation requirements will people over 50 have to undertake.

Mr Brendan O’Connor (Minister for Employment Participation) —The answer to the honourable member’s question is as follows:

Under existing arrangements, job seekers who are 50 years and over do not have an annual Mutual Obligation requirement. These job seekers will not have an annual work experience activity requirement under the new employment services but will be able to participate on a voluntary basis in the full range of work experience activities.
