Dr Southcott
asked the Minister for Education, in writing, on 2 December 2008:
In respect of places for existing workers under the Productivity Places Program that have not been accepted by 31 December 2008: is there an agreement in place with each State and Territory to continue offering these places until they have all been filled.

—The answer to the honourable member’s question is as follows:
A bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Australian Government and each State and Territory was used to agree on the arrangements for delivery of State and Territory managed existing worker places to 31 December 2008.
The National Partnership Agreement on the Productivity Places Program (NP PPP) includes arrangements for a reconciliation between the MoU and the NP PPP. This process will enable any of the places that were not delivered under the MoU to be delivered under the NP PPP from 1 January 2009. If the NP PPP is not entered into then the there is a provision in the MoU that will allow the MoU arrangements to be extended.
