Mr Truss asked the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, in writing, on 24 June 2008:

How much money to be contained in the Building Australia Fund has already been committed to projects?

Mr Albanese (Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government) —The answer to the honourable member’s question is as follows:

As noted in the 2008-09 Budget Papers, the Government has indicated that it will commit portions of the Building Australia Fund to the new National Broadband Network.

It is expected that funding of $400 million will also be available for regional telecommunications.

No further commitments have been made.
