Mr TURNBULL (3:08 PM)
—My question is to the Treasurer. Can the Treasurer confirm that the Treasury advised the government that the Productivity Commission should conduct the review of the motor vehicle industry, as opposed to the ‘jobs for the boys’ panel that was established?
Mr SWAN (Treasurer)
—It is certainly a matter that I discussed with the Treasury, as I do on all of these matters. I discussed it with the Treasury and they provided advice. As a consequence of that advice, the Productivity Commission is advising the panel, and that is a very good thing. I did discuss it with the Treasury. I took their advice and the Productivity Commission is involved.
