Mr McGAURAN (Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry) (6:01 PM) —Significant progress has been made on the issue and it is a difficult economic, technical and even social process. The end is in sight. I ask the member to be supportive, cooperative and also patient in bringing it to a conclusion.

The DEPUTY SPEAKER (Mr Haase)—The formal situation is this: this debate has come on much earlier than expected. I believe that is due to the fact that the questioning intended by the opposition has not resulted. The officials of the department, along with the minister concerned, are on their way.
