Ms Kate Ellis asked the Minister representing the Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, in writing, on 10 October 2006:

(1)   How many Government departments have relocated their information technology divisions offshore in the past 12 months.

(2)   What plans, if any, does the Government have to relocate other departments offshore.


Mr McGauran (Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry) —The Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts has provided the following answer to the honourable member’s question:

(1)   The Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts (DCITA) does not hold information regarding other departments information technology service provision arrangements. Each Minister would need to be approached to obtain the requested information. In relation to DCITA, no information technology areas have been relocated offshore.

(2)   DCITA does not hold information regarding other departments plans for information technology service provision. Each Minister would need to be approached to obtain the requested information. In relation to DCITA, there are no plans to relocated its information technology area offshore.
