Mr Andren asked the Minister for Transport and Regional Services, in writing, on 9 October 2006:

In respect of the continuing decline in rural and regional air services, can he advise (a) if the Government will respond to the Transport and Regional Services Committee’s 2003 report Regional Aviation & Island Services: Making Ends Meet, and (b) when this response will be made; and (c) if no response is to be made, why not.

Mr Vaile (Minister for Transport and Regional Services) —The answer to the honourable member’s question is as follows:

The recommendations of the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Transport and Regional Services’ report, Regional Aviation and Island Transport Services: Making Ends Meet, covers a wide range of issues requiring a whole-of-government response.

The Government is currently considering the 28 recommendation contained in the report and is working towards tabling its response as soon as possible.
