Mr Bowen asked the Minister representing the Minister for Family and Community Services, in writing, on 31 May 2005:

(1)   How many of the Minister’s department’s staff were employed at the Senior Executive Band 1 level in (a) 1996, (b) 1997, (c) 1998, (d) 1999, (e) 2000, (f) 2001, (g) 2002, (h) 2003, (i) 2004, and (j) 2005.

(2)   How many of the Minister’s department’s staff were paid at the Senior Executive Band 1 level in (a) 1996, (b) 1997, (c) 1998, (d) 1999, (e) 2000, (f) 2001, (g) 2002, (h) 2003, (i) 2004, and (j) 2005.

(3)   How many of the Minister’s department’s staff were employed at the Senior Executive Band 2 level in (a) 1996, (b) 1997, (c) 1998, (d) 1999, (e) 2000, (f) 2001, (g) 2002, (h) 2003, (i) 2004, and (j) 2005.

Mr Hockey (Minister for Human Services) —The Minister for Family and Community Services has provided the following answer to the honourable member’s question:

FaCS was formed following the October 1998 election. The SES staffing figures provided are based on SES numbers as at 30 June each year. The 2005 figures are as at 31 May 2005.

¹ In 2003 two SES Band 2 were on long - term leave and one SES Band 1 was acting at the SES Band 2 level. All three are included in the 2003 figure, which accounts for the higher number of SES Band 2 in 2003.
