Mr ANDREWS (Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations and Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the Public Service) (12:29 PM) —I can assure the member for Sydney that negotiations have been carried out in an orderly and timely way and that the various time lines in those negotiations have been met by the department. There was an LK agreement, which was put to the staff of the department. This was ultimately rejected and further negotiations are continuing.

Mr ANDREWS —Can I simply finally add to the comments in relation to the question from the member for Sydney that, if there is some industrial action by some members of the department this afternoon, they are entitled to do so under provisions of the Workplace Relations Act, and I presume she is not suggesting that that right be taken away.
