Mr BEAZLEY (Leader of the Opposition) (3:02 PM) —On indulgence on the same matter, we in the opposition certainly join the Prime Minister in sending our condolences and commiserations to the family of the member for Eden-Monaro, Gary Nairn. I had occasion to speak to him this morning. In fact, I was ringing him up to apologise because a pretty tough press release we put out arrived at the same time as the news of the death of his wife, Kerrie. Those were the worst possible circumstances for those things to inadvertently occur. I thought he was owed an apology by me in that regard, to be made public as soon as possible. We in this place live tough lives—it is tough on our families, even more than it is on us. This has been a terrible time for the family of one of us. All of us, whatever our political differences, feel his personal circumstances directly and personally.
