Mr Brendan O’Connor asked the Minister for Vocational and Technical Education, in writing, on 9 March 2005:

(1)   How many New Apprenticeship commencements were there in each year since 1996 in (a) the electoral division of Gorton and (b) the postcode area (i) 3020, (ii) 3021, (iii) 3022, (iv) 3023, (v) 3029, (vi) 3030, (vii) 3036, (viii) 3037, (ix) 3038, and (x) 3335.

(2)   How many of these New Apprenticeship commencements were in traditional trades.

(a)   The latest data released by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) relates to September 2004. The following table provides New Apprenticeships commencements for the 12 months to September in each year from 1996 to 2004 for the electorate of Gorton. (source: NCVER)
