Mr Martin Ferguson asked the Minister for Human Services, in writing, on 1 December 2004:

(1)   How many (a) male, and (b) female clients of the Child Support Agency in the electoral division of Batman (i) have a Child Support Liability, and (ii) receive a Child Support Payment.


Mr Hockey (Minister for Human Services) —The answer to the honourable member’s question is as follows:

Only payers with postcodes have been allocated to electorates. Furthermore some payees have postcodes which are not included in the list of postcodes assigned to electorates supplied by the Parliamentary Library. This list does not include mail centres.

CSA does not have reliable gender data available. Instead, payers and payees are offered as an alternative. Approximately 89% of payers are male and approximately 89% of payees are female.
