The SPEAKER (2:06 PM)
—The Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition have, as it were, appropriately stolen the chair's thunder in extending a warm welcome to Betty Cuthbert, an Australian track and field legend, and to her carer. But while I have the attention of the House in welcoming Betty, may I also welcome to the distinguished visitors' gallery this afternoon United States Senator Richard Shelby and Congressman Robert Cramer, both of whom are here as visitors. They are accompanied by His Excellency Mr Thomas Schieffer, the American Ambassador to Australia. We are pleased to have all of you here.
Honourable members—Hear, hear!
