Mr McClelland asked the Minister representing the Minister for Justice and Customs, upon notice, on 11 May 2004:

In respect of the Budget measure “Combating trafficking in persons—whole of government strategy” disclosed in the 2003-2004 Mid-year Economic and Fiscal Outlook, how many additional AFP officers will be employed in each financial year with this funding.


Mr Ruddock (Attorney-General) —The Minister for Justice and Customs has provided the following answer to the honourable member's question:

The Combating Trafficking in Persons initiative provides for the employment of an additional 10 AFP Officers. The funding provided, supports the 10 officers in the financial years 2003-04, 2004-05, 2005-06, and 2006-07.
