Mr STEPHEN SMITH (2:51 PM)
—My question is to the Minister for Ageing. I refer the minister to the suggestion that nursing home places be auctioned to the highest bidder. Will the minister rule out the auctioning of aged care places as part of the government's response to the Hogan review?
Ms JULIE BISHOP (Minister for Ageing)
—I thank the member for Perth for his question. As members would know, this government commissioned Professor Hogan to undertake a comprehensive review of residential care. After an 18-month, very thorough investigation and analysis of the aged care sector, Professor Hogan has provided a summary of recommendations which are currently being considered by the government, and the government will respond in due course.
