Ms HALL (1:52 PM) —Today I would like to acknowledge the fine contribution of Wal Drane to the Blacksmith community in my electorate. Wal has been a member of the progress association, has been very active in sporting and community groups and has made an enormous contribution to the Blacksmith school—he has even written a book about the area. As a tribute to Wal, last Thursday, 4 March, Lake Macquarie City Council dedicated the Wal Drane playground for the use of local families. Wal has received two Shortland awards: the Centenary Medal and the Seniors award. He is a fine citizen and an excellent role model for all Australians. I congratulate Wal on his contribution to the Blacksmith community.
